Taekwondo Training

Taekwondo Training has five Components:

Korean trainingPattern or form (Taeguek/Poomse). This is a series of movements for the various kicks, blocks, punches and strikes of Taekwondo. The practitioner perfects these against an imaginary opponent(s).

The official poomse for competition are those recognized by the World Taekwondo Federation. Those poomse are Taegeuk Pattern 1 to 8 (Color Belts), Koryo (1st Dan), Keumgang (2nd Dan), Taebaek (3rd Dan), Pyongwon (4th Dan), Sipjin and Jitae (5th Dan), Chonkwon, Hansu, and Ilyeo (6th Dan).

Sparring (Kyorugi) is the practical application of various forms of self defense practised with a partner. Breaking techniques

Breaking (Kyukpa). This is a technique where the practitioner can gauge the precision and power of the technique by breaking a solid object such as board or brick.

Self-Defense (Ho Shin Sool). This is the study of how to use an attacker's strength or skill against him/her. The practitioner learns when, how, and where to attack an assailant using various techniques.

Meditation (Jung Shin Tong). This is the practice of one's concentration in order to focus on precision and power. To be able to visualize goals, and to listen to one's conscience.
